Booming Demand for New Energy Vehicles: Liwei Expands Production of Optical-Grade PVB & Dual-Spec EVA for PV & Lithium Batteries, Completes Full-Vehicle Material Supply with VAE, PVAc & EVOH

Rising penetration of new energy vehicles globally fuels surging demand for automotive safety glass, solar car roofs and lithium battery sealing materials. To fill market gaps, Anhui Liwei Chemical completed intelligent production line expansion for optical-grade PVB resin and new-energy-special EVA resin, lifting capacity by 30% to steadily supply auto parts manufacturers in Europe, the Middle East and North America. Optical-grade PVB serves as core raw material for interlayer films of automotive windshields and side windows, featuring light transmittance over 91% and anti-UV aging performance to tackle risks of gravel impact and high-temperature deformation during high-speed driving. Two differentiated EVA grades serve separate scenarios: high-crosslink PV EVA for encapsulation of car roof solar modules, low-melt-index flame-retardant EVA for lithium battery cell sealing and wire harness insulation. A full set of supporting automotive materials is launched simultaneously: low-odor VAE emulsion for nonwoven fabric adhesion of interior trims, formaldehyde-free PVAc emulsion for interior board lamination, and EVOH-EVA blended modified material for anti-corrosion barrier layers of fuel tanks. The five vinyl acetate polymers build a comprehensive automotive material portfolio, enabling clients to source glass, photovoltaic, interior and battery raw materials from one supplier instead of multiple vendors. Liwei’s new energy polymer products have been admitted into supply chains of multiple overseas Tier 1 auto component suppliers, with overseas automotive orders up 52% year-on-year in 2026.

Numerous overseas purchasers inquire about selection differences among five vinyl acetate polymers. Liwei Chemical R&D Center releases a professional selection guide, distinguishing the five products from four dimensions including molecular monomer composition, physical properties, environmental resistance and applicable industries, helping overseas clients avoid product waste caused by incorrect material selection.PVAc (Polyvinyl Acetate Homopolymer): Composed of 100% vinyl acetate monomers, mainly water-based emulsion with strong adhesion and low cost. Limitations: poor water & low-temperature resistance, only suitable for indoor wood glue, paper coating and interior wall paint, not allowed for outdoor or high-humidity environments.VAE (Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene Copolymer Emulsion): PVAc modified with ethylene monomers, retaining eco-friendly water-based features while greatly improving water resistance, low-temperature tolerance and flexibility. Limitation: no barrier performance, mainly applied in construction waterproofing, cement modification, outdoor nonwoven adhesion and exterior waterborne coatings.EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Thermoplastic Resin): Higher ethylene content, solid pellets processed by hot melting with excellent weatherability and impact resistance. Limitation: extremely poor oxygen barrier capacity, divided into three grades for PV encapsulation, foaming and wire cables, not applicable for barrier packaging.EVOH (Ethylene-Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer): High hydroxyl structure delivering top-tier oxygen & gas barrier performance in the industry. Limitation: weak hydrolysis resistance and brittleness when processed alone, must be co-extruded with EVA or PE, exclusively for food/chemical barrier packaging and automobile fuel tanks.PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral): High light transmittance, strong glass adhesion and outstanding impact resistance. Limitation: no self-adhesion and cannot form films independently, only used as interlayer raw material restricted to automotive & architectural safety glass. The guide also clarifies matching rules: EVOH + VAE composite for high-humidity packaging; VAE as primary material for outdoor construction; independent EVA for photovoltaic new energy; exclusive PVB for glass processing; PVAc for low-cost indoor adhesion. Multilingual versions of the full guide are uploaded to the technical library of official website for global clients to download.

Liwei Full Range of Vinyl Acetate Polymers Obtained ISCC Sustainable Carbon Certification, PVAc, VAE, EVA, EVOH & PVB Fully Access EU Low-Carbon Trade Channels

With the full implementation of EU CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), low-carbon and traceable chemical raw materials have become mandatory thresholds for entering the European market. Recently, Anhui Liwei Chemical announced that five product lines including PVAc, VAE, EVA, EVOH and PVB have all passed ISCC PLUS international sustainable carbon certification, with full REACH registration completed for all grades. Liwei ranks among a small number of domestic manufacturers holding dual certifications for all vinyl acetate polymer categories. The certification covers the whole chain including raw material traceability, production carbon emission control and finished product carbon footprint accounting. The factory upgraded circulating water systems and waste heat recovery equipment, cutting carbon emissions per unit product by 22%. All export shipments can provide ISCC carbon traceability certificates to assist EU clients with carbon tax declaration and avoid extra import carbon costs. Category-specific export advantages are prominent: low-VOC formaldehyde-free PVAc & VAE emulsions comply with EU new environmental regulations for coatings and adhesives; bio-modified EVOH meets EU carbon reduction policies for food packaging; photovoltaic-grade EVA and optical PVB fit low-carbon procurement standards of EU new energy and automotive industries. Leveraging dual certification qualifications, Liwei Chemical launches a distributor recruitment program across Europe, covering core industrial countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Poland, while expanding layout of low-carbon material markets in the Middle East and Australia. EU polymer export orders rose 47% month-on-month in H1 2026, and low-carbon certification acts as the core growth engine for overseas business.
